Everything old becomes new again

Willow Creek was a real place long before it became a song. It was part of the world I grew up in, and those memories kept finding their way into my notebooks and my music.

While we were preparing for shows and tours to support Find a Way, the band needed to learn the songs from Changes. We ended up doing more than rehearsing them. We re-recorded Changes and renamed it Crossing Willow Creek.

The songs moved from a very acoustic treatment to a fuller band sound. As I put it in the memoir, it became “a far more produced—and better-sounding—album.” The stories were still there. We were finding another way to tell them.
